Please join us for our Friday Night Family Stampede – a series of four evenings of fun races for kids and parents!

Every year LWSC hosts a series of fun races for kids on Friday nights in September. This year, as an extension of the Friday Night Family Night, the event is open to kids and parents! You can race as a family in a club Lido or one/two up in a Sunfish or Sabot.

The Friday Night Family Stampede is a fun event that gets kids and parents on the water and beginning to learn the basics of racing. Before each race night there is a skippers’ meeting which reviews the process of racing, the courses, and basic rules. Then, it’s off to the races!

Afterwards, there are ribbons awarded for the top nightly results and we keep a cumulative tally for overall results trophies on the last night. Winning isn’t everything, but having fun and trying to get better is the goal.

If you're a skipper who needs crew or a crew who needs a skipper, this event is for you. Prior to the monthly One Design Regatta, skippers bring their boats to take out new and potential crew for a sail or conduct on-land drills to teach spinnaker and other boathandling skills. It's a great way to connect and build out your crew list. Who knows, you might even go racing after practice!
