Windsurfing & Wing Foiling

Lake Washington is an excellent location for all levels of windsurfing and wing foiling.  A regular group of windsurfers and foilers can be found at Lake Washington on windy days throughout the year. LWSC members can utilize ready-to-launch pre-rigged windsurfing gear on site, on a first-come first-serve basis. We welcome wing foilers at LWSC, but the club does not have any wing foiling equipment at this time.

Please see the LWSC calendar for an updated list of windsurfing events and classes.

Windsurfing Classes

For beginner windsurfers we offer regular windsurfing classes every summer. Most windsurfing classes are a two-day class, Saturdays and Sundays. No experience necessary.

The class will cover:
Basics of windsurfing
Safety
Terminology and equipment

Check the calendar for class availability or email LWSCwindsurfing@gmail.com for private lessons.

Tuesday Evening Windsurfing

Come sail with other windsurfers in a fun environment. Tuesday nights are the perfect night for newer windsurfers who have completed a class to come out and practice their skills. Practice sail nights run most Tuesdays May through late summer. Experienced windsurfers will be available to help get you on the water. Please RSVP on the calendar to ensure volunteers are available.

If there's enough interest, buoys will be set out for fun racing. This event may be cancelled if weather conditions are unsuitable.

Windsurfing Regattas

LWSC hosts the Capitol Cup Windsurfing Regatta once a year, typically in June. The Capitol Cup is a longboard course racing regatta. Anticipated classes include Open Class, Raceboard 7.5 Limited Class, Windsurfer LT Class, and Novice/Cruiser Division (for less experienced racers).

Check the calendar in May to register, see the NOR and review sailing instructions. Non-members can register by clicking on the register now button and then scrolling to the bottom of the page to enter their first and last name.
