Mid-Winter Racing Series
The Lake Washington Sailing Club has scheduled a series of Mid-Winter races during February, March and April. Each weekend a separate designated one design class will race. One-design classes for this series include Lasers, Sunfish, FJs, Thistles, Lidos, and Coronado 15s.
Thursday Night Summer Sailboat Racing Series
Sailing is best when you go frequently. Every Thursday evening from May through October we get together and have fun, informal races. The first start is at 6:00 and we finish at sundown. We get five races in, then enjoy the sunset and relaxation time.
One-Design Series Championship Regatta
Every month from May to September we have races between boats of the same classes: One-Design. It’s boat-on-boat with the difference being the sailors, not whether you have a faster boat than the other guy. It’s a true test of skill and tactical decision-making. For those with boats that don’t fit into a single fleet, we have an Open Division, so everyone can race. The series lasts all summer, so we have race winners as well as series winners. If you show up, you can win the whole thing!
Capitol Cup Windsurfing Regatta
Lake Washington Sailing Club hosts its annual Capitol Cup Longboard Windsurfing Regatta in June. Bring your Windsurfer LT, Mistral Equipe, or whatever you have. Sailors can expect afternoon delta breezes around 10-12 knots with an occasional 20-knot day. Refreshments and food are available in the after-race social.
Delta Dinghy Ditch
Thirty miles in a dinghy; what are you crazy? This is a unique event in dinghy sailing. We start in Rio Vista and end at the clubhouse in West Sacramento. The starts are timed so all the boats reach Lake Washington at about the same time. Anyone can win! And, we party to music and great food at the end of the trip! This is our most technical event, requiring coordination of the participants, movement of trailers and boat dollies, transiting the bridge crossing in Rio Vista, and starting each class of boats at the right time according to each class’s handicap. Make sure to carefully read the NOR and Sailing Instructions.
This is the only long distance, downwind dinghy race in the whole USA!
End-of-Season Regatta
Our annual End-of-Season Regatta is held in late October. The winds are usually moderate to light, and the weather is usually beautiful. This is a classic buoy regatta with five races in one day. We welcome C15, El Toro, Thistle, Laser, Windsurfer, Lido, Banshee, and open fleets to battle it out for the big prizes: BRATWURST AND SCHNITZELS, Halloween Candy, Frozen Turkeys (depends on the theme).
