Gather your family, friends, and fellow sailors for an exciting community event The Great Cardboard Boat Challenge!

It's all about creativity, teamwork and fun. It's designed for everyone in our community to build together, cheer each other on, and enjoy a fantastic day by the water.

The event tests communication, creative problem-solving, real-time engineering, and resource management under the clock. You'll need every mind on deck to stay afloat!

A little pre-event research goes a long way! There are lots of ideas online about how to design and build a cardboard boat.

The boat has to float and be navigable!

The Challenge: At least one crew member (more if your boat can handle it) must board and paddle the cardboard boat from the dock, around a buoy in the cove and return safely to the dock.

Prizes will be awarded for fastest, most creative, and longest distance paddled.

Check in for the event starts at 10:30. All building takes place on site the day of the event from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. No pre-assembled boats or outside structural materials allowed! Launching boats begins at 2:30 pm.

Provided Materials: Each team receives 3 large water heater or appliance boxes at check-in.
Bring your own duct tape or packaging tape. Teams are strictly limited to a maximum of 120 yards of tape (2 standard 60-yard rolls).
No Paints or Liquid Sealants: Due to drying times and water protection, no paints, glues, spray sealants, or shrink wrap are permitted. Get creative with markers or crayons for boat decorating
PFDs: Paddlers are required to wear PFDs while on the water.
Bring
Scissors, box cutters, or utility knives
Straight edges, rulers, or measuring tapes
Permanent markers or crayons
Up to 120 yards of tape
Paddle (a few will be available if you don't have one)
USCG-approved life jackets for your boat crew.
